According to the Public Relations Department of the Sirjan Special Economic Zone, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) concerning the development of rail transport and the establishment of a logistics village within the Sirjan Special Economic Zone was signed in the presence of Dr. Hossein Amiri, Director General of the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization; Jabarali Zakeri, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Director General of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways; and representatives of the signatory parties. This MOU provides for the establishment and launch of the 230-hectare Sirjan Logistics Village within the city's special economic zone. This project aims to increase the share of rail transport in freight, develop logistics infrastructure, and strengthen the region's role as a transit hub. It is among the most important logistics projects in Kerman Province. These memoranda of understanding were signed after approval by the headquarters of the National Logistics Centers and in the presence of Jabar Ali Zakeri, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Director General of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, as well as leaders and representatives of the signatory parties. In this context, and to complete the regional logistics chain, the Sirjan Special Economic Zone signed an agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Company, in the presence of Dr. Hossein Amiri, Director General of the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization. This agreement stipulates that the Sirjan Special Economic Zone will become an empty container platform for exporters. The implementation of this plan will contribute to improving supply chain efficiency and increasing the competitiveness of regional exports by facilitating exporters' access to containers, accelerating export operations, reducing cargo downtime, and lowering logistics costs. The Public Relations Department of the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization announced: “The synergy between the development of the logistics hub, railway infrastructure, and the establishment of a container platform will make the Sirjan Special Economic Zone one of the country’s leading logistics, export, and transit centers, and will provide the necessary platform to attract new investments and foster sustainable economic development in Kerman Province.” In accordance with the commitments made by the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, the planning and monitoring of railway infrastructure construction, the issuance of necessary permits, and the establishment of a platform for the regular transport of freight by rail will be carried out as part of the implementation of these agreements. The Public Relations Department of the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization described this agreement and the contract with the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Company as a significant step toward transforming the Sirjan Special Economic Zone into one of the country’s leading logistics and export centers
