Dr. Abdol-Eizadeh, Presidential Representative for Maritime Development, Dr. Talebi, Governor of Kerman, Dr. Asgari, Director General of Iranian Customs, and other national officials visited the Sirjan Special Economic Zone yesterday.
According to the Regional Public Relations Department, this visit, which aimed to inaugurate a dry port in the Sirjan Special Economic Zone, was marked by good news: this project will be discussed in Sirjan. National and provincial officials entered the Sirjan Special Economic Zone yesterday morning, welcomed by Dr. Amiri, CEO of the Kerman Civil Engineering Organization, and Engineer Vafaei, CEO. They first toured various parts of the zone and carefully observed the infrastructure. They then held a meeting in the zone's conference room. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Amiri provided a comprehensive explanation of the special zone. The Presidential Representative for Maritime Development then stated: Sirjan, Mehriz, and April have been selected as three dry port areas for Shahid Rajaee Port. Their capacities are currently being studied so that goods can be unloaded there.
He added: If we want the country to be organized and developed, we must combat and put an end to all rent-seeking at all levels.
Referring to the importance of rail transport, Abdul Alizadeh stated: Transporting goods by rail consumes only one-sixth of the fuel of road transport, while the depreciation of roads and trucks is also significantly reduced.
Stating that modernizing the country's ports is one of the top priorities for maritime development, he added: If we had improved the quality of Shahid Rajaee Port in the past, we might not have experienced so much damage and casualties in the recent incidents.
The Presidential Representative continued: In fourth-generation ports, all processes are carried out using technology. Unfortunately, technological backwardness leads to serious damage in the event of an accident. The Sirjan Special Zone becomes a dry port.
He announced the selection of three regions as dry ports and stated: Sirjan, Mehriz, and April have been selected as three dry port regions for Shahid Rajaee Port. The capacities of these regions are currently being studied so that goods can be unloaded there.
Abdul Alizadeh added: One of the important features of the dry port is the presence of an industrial zone that can serve as a basis for rapid industrial growth and job creation thanks to customs exemptions. In addition, the quality of products will increase thanks to competitiveness in global markets.
Expressing his appreciation for Sirjan's role in this national mission, he stated: Sirjan's commitment to implementing this plan was confirmed during the visits, and we hope that the process of transferring goods to this region will begin soon. Finally, Abdul Alizadeh expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Kerman and stated: "Kerman benefits from the presence of one of the best governors in the country; a competent, development-oriented manager who has been able to mobilize the province's strengths to realize his development vision."
Referring to the role of non-coastal provinces in maritime development, he added: "Although Kerman and Fars are not coastal provinces, they occupy a privileged position in the development of the coastline and the hinterland and can be the standard-bearers of the country's development."
On the sidelines of this visit, the Governor of Kerman, Mohammad Ali Talebi, stated: "In recent months, numerous follow-ups have been conducted by the Governor's Office and the representative of the people of Sirjan in Parliament to explain the capabilities and privileged position of this region at the national level." Highlighting Sirjan's strategic role in the field of logistics and transportation, he added: "The main objective is to transform the Sirjan Special Economic Zone into a high-performance inland dry port, capable of playing a significant role in supporting the country's exports and imports."
The governor of Kerman noted: "The development of this region can pave the way for the establishment of freight forwarding companies, export and import activists, and also strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises in the province."
Referring to the availability of basic infrastructure in the region, Talebi said: "Although we have not yet achieved development in the field of warehousing that matches the region's capabilities, existing weaknesses can be addressed, and through careful planning,
